New in Louis Vuitton for Fall 09' the Kanye West sneaker in red that looks a whole lot better than his boat shoe and a new Damier Graphite' bag.... as well as an overgrown speedy embossed and a new steamer and a bag i wanna call just kick it, cuz it looks like a soccer ball obviously. But any way you look at it- LV is starting to grow their mens market. And it looks pretty good so far!

Today I am going to tell you a little bit about Paul Helbers! He is the secret weopon in Marc Jacobs empire. He gets almost no credit for his work as he is out-shined by the god light of mj, however he deserves a lot of credit for his fine work. He has been appointed studio manager of the mens Louis Vuitton line since 2005. Marc has said that he has no interest in menswear, but he knows that paul does. You can't see much from these photos, but thats ok, to really believe you have to wear them. Its all in the details, as most men know.. our favorite pieces stem from little nuances, like an interesting bit of construction, or a change in this or that so we know we have a unique piece. I have had the experience of wearing these shoes you see on the runway! And they are sick as hell! Not only are they comfortable but they come with an interchangeable silicone overlay that fits on two or more styles in the line. I want the perforated white ones, and the faded purple w/ gray silicone! Congrats my man you actually got me excited about something!

Uh oh! Guess whats gonna happen this year? The hipsters are gonna go after everything native american. and mark my words some of these cats are gonna think its original. But not if you follow japanese streetwear trends since 2005. But thats ok, as long as you are remixing originality you can surprise us all with some native flair. These shoes are by undercover.
Supra Skytop named sneaker of the year! Hell Yeah! This was the first shoe in years that I had to have! I mean I ran out to the only shop in Chicago that sells em' (Leaders on Milwaukee) And I paid full price! I have gotten so many compliments on these shoes its not even funny! And of course I got the first editions! Supra has a lot of sweet kicks! All I can ask for is a higher grade leather and antimicrobial lining and you have the best hi-top ever made! Sorry Supra but even though i love my skytops..the leather is shit! But who cares! It is the most comfortable shoe I have had in years!
"New" Some of my favorite looks from Alexander McQueens Fall 09' mens collection! McQueen is probably my favorite designer of all time and I have been following him from his first collection. Most of us can't afford his stuff, but what I love about his Fall 09 is that it is easily adaptable from some vintage re-tail0ring.. if you have any skill with the needle...you have to get the fit down first, and then spend the big bucks getting a well made dress shirt. Get the gloves from stinky rat, get the boots from vuitton.. and there you go. Oh, don't forget the leather butcher apron!

Right there in this exact moment of this movie i actually felt like i was on the inside of this cafe looking out at this little bundle of joy.. and it reminds me of Sean Ellis's movie cashback where the main character talks about a woman wanting to have an affair with an artist because he would "really see" her.. and that every wrinkle or fold on her body he would see and know that is what makes her up to be beautiful and unique.. and if i were in this scene looking out..that is what i would have thought. this movie is garden party btw.
Here is an early attempt at styling that turned out great! The photagrapher is Sophia Schrayber who i just saw on last nights party. She has moved on up to the big apple and has a lot of good ideas. But we kinda got this space theme going on that we turned into being blown out by the lights! The set was covered in silver foil and those sunglasses were what i was wearing all summer. The third picture is my favorite...she looks like she is stepping out of the light!
When this article was published, there was seven other designers up for this one spot. Then I interviewed and Jenn who thought my work was cool and asked me to bring some clothes down to the Tribune tower to the Time Out offices! I felt really cool when I went there holding my bag of clothes.. They borrowed them for a few days and then called and asked me to pick em' up and a few months later....BAM! I am in the magazine. Thanks Time Out for being so cool!
Uh Oh! More old skool Chad Knight action! I still like this dress and the look above it I like too! That was my first attempt at a belt. Oh! And the shirt has hook and eyes to keep it closed because I didn't know how to make buttonholes.. But with Rheta, Brian and I had a hard time keeping anything she wore closed! Rheta Alexander is now doing big things in Los Angeles!
Here is a look at some Early work by myself.. I think this was 2002 or 2003. I Had this thing for cropped jackets and I think I still do! I am going to make fun of myself here because I think those jacket sleeves aren't finished because I didn't know how! haha! And the dress with the chains is actually made by my friend Suki Zhang! She is a badass!
Today is the day! You know what goes well with Chartreuse? Change! I mean every time I drink this stuff I get some crazy idea in my head! But today is inauguration day for Chicagoans as well as the rest of the U.S.! I'm sure it will be an interesting day! But look at this guy my fashion peeps are actually excited to have a fashionable President! We haven't seen that in a while..since JFK. And all designers everywhere are wondering what Michelle will be wearing! Will it be Calvin? Will it be Oscar? Or will it be a young designer like Proenza or that Zac Posen? Or will it be a local Chicago Designer like Maria Pinto? I don't know, but we will all find out tonite! But any way, look at this guy! This is what a president should look like! In this picture he looks like nick cage in faceoff about to get those golden guns and chiclets out of that box!
